I am SO excited that the calendar has turned its page to September! This month is the kick-off to some pretty awesome events. For starters, today is the official day that I get my act together and really start paying attention to what I’m shoveling in my mouth and strive to workout at least 5 times a week. I’VE GOT TO GET IT TOGETHER. Zach and I are going on a cruise in February (164 days away to be exact) and I can’t be wearing a big ‘ol moo moo so I need to stay focused. For lunch today I am having a plan turkey dog and some mini rice cakes. Mmmmm!

This Friday I will be attending the John Mayer concert here in Tulsa at the BOK! Eee Eee yay yay! I’m so looking forward to this. He is my love! It’s just the voice I need to hear to begin my autumn season with. (Head tilted to the side and batting my eyelashes :))

There are so many great things about this time of year, so now I would like to share with you my top ten list of why September = Happiness :)

1) Summer clothes are on sale.

Not that I plan on buying shorts or anything like that. If you know me at all you know that I am not a summer person. I don’t like the sun, I don’t like the outdoors in the heat, and I don’t tan. But, I still like getting some good deals. I like to look for tank tops so I can wear them under my comfy sweaters.

2) New fall clothes.

It’s such a warming feeling to see browns, oranges, reds and yellows popping out at you wherever you go and from the covers of magazines.

3) My niece’s birthday.

She is going to be 11 years old this year!! I can’t believe it. It seems like just 11 years ago we were welcoming her into the world. Oh, yeah, it was 11 years ago. J (Dumb joke, I know)

4) The outdoor smell.

It’s time to open up the windows and let that air come in! It’s the best smell in the world, the smell of fall. It’s okay to get those pumpkin scented candles out and let them burn!

5) Clothes from last year.

Every winter I am guilty of buying several things from the sale rack, packing them away in my closet and being surprised when I find it again the next fall. I know there are a few things hiding in my closet now that I’m ready to meet again.

6) Party planning for October.

YES! Halloween is the best time of year for a good party. This year I will also be planning for Zach’s 30th birthday!! I want to call his party “Zach’s 20 10 in 2010” He doesn’t like it but I think it’s cute!

7) Football

Let me make this very clear…..I DO NOT LIKE/WATCH FOOTBALL…..but there is something very relaxing about it when it’s on T.V. I will only attend games if I’m able to at least wear a jacket. Plus, I don’t mind when people come over to watch a game because it makes for a nice fall friendly gathering that I can make some cookies for. I don’t cook much (at all) but I do enjoy some baking during this time of year.

8) Back-To-School Aisle

I have always been a fan of the Back-to-School Aisle. What more could I ask for? I am a NUT for paper and pencils and pens and notebooks! Pretty much everything!!! I’m getting a little bit crazy right now thinking of all the leftover supplies that are just sitting there waiting to be purchased. I should probably be the one to buy them and give them a good home, right? Zach would disagree. He would probably prefer that I bring home a stray animal over one more notebook to add to the collection of my other unused ones. I can’t help it (again, head tilted to the side, batting my eyelashes.)

9) Fair time

Who doesn’t love the fair???? No matter how many years you leave there with sore feet saying “that’s the same crap every year” you know you have to go back again. I find joy just walking around and eating my corndog and drinking my lemonade. They are A MUST every year. Oh, I can’t wait. Plus, it’s usually jacket weather by that time. Yip!

9) Outdoor Exercise

It wasn’t until last year that I even went outdoors to workout. I found that I really doenjoy jogging. (Just not in 100 degrees) I think Phoebe enjoys it too because she actually gets to go on long walks and we like to kick the soccer ball around in the back yard. She’s pretty good at guarding it.

Hope you enjoyed my top ten list and maybe I will see you at the fair!!!
