BABY TALK

"So, when are you having a baby?"

"You're not getting any younger?"

"I need a baby to hold, have one!"

These words keep flying through my head like underwear at a New Kids on the Block concert. (I've seen it happen.) It's really got me thinking that maybe it's time for the Rowell's to have a new addition. I've made it a point in my married years (2 1/2 to be exact) that I don't want to bring a child into the marriage or into the world just because it's expected. It's usually the pattern, you get married and then you bust out some kids. (Please don't start hating, I don't think that pattern is wrong it's just not what I chose to do.) It's a HUGE responsibility to raise a child. I mean, this human being is with you for life!

My sister-in-law is expecting her first baby in October and I'm so excited for her! How fun is it to go shopping and plan showers and decorate rooms, pick out names and just preparing yourself for everything in your life to change with that first cry in the delivery room. So amazing!

I think what I'm trying to say is that I honestly feel ready to be a mother. I will be a great mother, I have no doubts, but if I think on it for too long, it gets scary yet so exciting. I'm not saying we are trying for a baby but I just cant stop thinking about the fact that I'm NOT getting any younger and if I were to get pregnant today, I would have the baby by the time I'm 30, which I know is not uncommon, but my child would be 10 when I'm 40. Which I think I heard Ricky Lake say the other day that 40 is the new 20 so I guess it will all work out :) I just find myself feeling like I'm missing something when I see my friends having babies and taking that next step in their life and marriage. For now I will enjoy doggie motherhood and start making a list of baby names ;)

  1. I think you will make a great mom! Motherhood is definetly amazing. It has its ups and downs, but you will love it. Do it for you, when YOU feel the time is right!

  2. Whether you're ready for it or not, God will make it happen on His terms--Im learning that the hard way, unfortunately.

I will be praying for y'all, it's such a special, sweet time during your marriage. We want baby Rowell's too! :) Have no fear, you'll be a great mom!

  3. April, I love the way you think! If and when it's right - it'll be a real lucky kid or kids cause you two really will be great parents.

For names: Apach for a girl or Zaril for a boy. Or the best ever: Growl

By the way, you may have missed one other factor - it's Zach. He's not getting any younger and isn't it like for every 10 pounds of baby there is like 40 pounds of stuff for the father to haul around! Better get going while he's still muscled up!

Smiles for you both - you're wonderful.
